good morning,miss hani!

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

oh my god,it’s so much fun to hear that everyday.students are greeting us and like totally respecting us and treating us like actual teachers.it’s so cool!!!

i’m really enjoying myself here.we’ve had so many new experiences.or rather old ones refreshed and put in different light.we got the chance to manage a co-curricular activity, invigilate a test and hopefully,we’ll be able to teach one of the classes sometime soon.

i really love entering a classroom and interacting with the students.its so wonderful.they enthusiasm to lean and get to know you is so genuine and fun.and of course, kids at this age are just so funny.they really say the darnest things.

the teachers here are such darlings!!!!i’m really going to miss al of them when we leave.i really want to come back to teach in taiping if i get the opportunity.its like my dream school.

i think i’m really cut out for this job la.i’m enjoying it so much.every aspect of it is just fun to me,even the gritty stuff like homework

maybe because studnts here are good

maybe because the enviroment is not similiar to REAL schools.

maybe i’m just over enthusiastic

but i think,i’m actualy going to be happy doing this.  :)

im currently a "teacher" in MRSM Taiping.do i like it so far?HELL YEAH!!!

i totally dig getting dresed up for class and having students greet me everytime they see me without having to do anything and i so totally love it that the girls here are so idolizing us coz we are apparently so happening and cool to them.

what else could i ask for

the teachers are so nice, esp those in our English Dept.and i got the chance to meet the EMCs(English Motivation Commitee).they are so like the gediks but in a totally comel and ok way.hehehehe

best la this whole school exposure experience.i think i’m gonna enjoy being in MRSM :)

well,i’m very sad to say that my time in langkawi has come to an abrupt end. starting tomorrow i will be in taiping, damn  it!

i’m gonna miss the good weather and easy access to beautiful beaches.

i’m not sure if theres a starbucks in taiping.

i kinda like our apartment now, even though tis quite crappy.

ive packed my bags for taiping though.hehehe.but im gonna miss langkawi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what am i doing?

so the guy at the burger stall her is kinda cute. so its kinda developed into an infatuation.

ive got instant coffee waiting in my room, but i’d rather hike up and down three flight s of stairs to buy nescafe ice from this dude.

damn,i’m so depraved of male attention.

I’m NOT on vacation

Monday, January 15th, 2007

i don’t get it.everytime someone asked me about going to Langkawi before Nz,i always said im going for classes.but somehow the whole classes part gets erased on all they hear is Langkawi=island retreat/vacation.

that is soooo NOT what we’re doing right now. this is summer school.we have to CONDENSE lessons normally thought over a 12 week period into JUST 4 weeks.do u know what that does to u?its madness!!!! i can’t remember ever feeling so perputually tired the whole time.and i only have one subject to study.

So to everybody who thinks i’m sitting on some nice beach here, sipping on a cosmopolitan, enjoying the warmth of the sun,I’m NOT!!!!

i’m slaving away over observation schedules and mountains of reading materials.

but it could be worse.

observation schedule no. 1

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

ok,so i went for my first class observation study today and all i have to say is…DAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

firstly,we got to observe a very cute but very the soft teacher who is one tough nut to crack!i was fooled by his tiny facade but he was able to command the classroom extremely well.he was tact and brutally honest, witty and sarcastic.it was very fun to watch.

unfortunately there were some aspects about this teacher that found to be quite obnoxious.heactually rolled his eyes, like REALLY roll em’,a lot,esp if students didn’t respond or if they gave an answer that were not up to his standards.i found that to be very demotivating,at least i would feel like that if he did that to me.

but the class was fun, none the less.the teacher being tact kept me and my other observer friends on alert.i think its quite sad that this teacher has to be stuck here in a school where the classroom is a lively as a fishbowl.but he seems to be enjoying himself.

after this doing this activity,i’m so psyched to move on to bigger endeavours.hehehehe

day out

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

it’s official.i’ve just had me first week of classes in langkawi.i have to say,i’m thrilled that things have been going so well and that i enjoy classes.it’s kind of general knowledge in classroom so its not difficult.best part?NO EXAMS!!!! we just have to do an observation project which i think is WAAAY better than doing an exam.class assignments are a tad of a nuisance coz it’s eally tough.we have to design our own research schedule and observation charts to monitor certain aspects of the classroom that are discussed in our subject, language teaching 102.though its the starting processis a bitch,i’m looking forward to entering the classroom to observe and monitor all the classroom behaviors.

i cant believe so much has happened.with each the approach of each new day,i’m getting closr and closer to heading off to new zealand.yet theres so much of malaysia that i havent discovered yet.langkawi is just as beautiful as all the other places we see on channel 11.sure we might not have the awesome architecture thats laden with history like those in europe and usa.but we’ve got the flora and fauna and pretty swet beaches and waterfalls and cable car rides.

i don’t think i expected this, but i find myself wishing i could stay a little longer so i could really get to know malaysia.tour her and see all the beauty she has to offer.while i was here,i too her for granted.but now that i’ll be leaving, her allure never seemed stronger.i think i will miss tanah airku.

all of a sudden what lies ahead seems daunting.i’ll be swapping golden sunshine filled days for windier, wetter pastures.terung masak sambal for fish n chips.familiar for unknown.

but the goal that lies ahead is sweet.hopefully life gets better from here on up.coz thats the only way to go right now.

exhaustion!

to go from doing nothing to meeting ridiculously tight datelines is quite a big transition for me.so far,all i can say is i don’t think i’m handleling it too well.
what to do.
very very VERY exhausted!

on an island in the sun

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

i’m currently residing in Langkawi, the island that will be my home for the next 20 days.i’m sharing an apartment with my mates(shaz, zarin, shark, aimie and two stow aways  -_-") and its been quite fun.of course theres a few glitches here and there and its not peachy and dandy but we’ll make do.

so it begins.my life as a student.before,i had food and accomodation provided for me but now,i live on a tight budget.i have to control my impending urge to splurge on the isle of duty free.already the smells from the perfume shop have tempted me to spend some dough on their exquisite luxuries.

i did give in to temptation(unfortunatle it wasnt worth it) when i bought a bar of chocies.yes, they give me temporary pleasure in the night time when i’m feeling a little low and i need a pick me up,but still….

food is tight, hopefully that’ll have a positive effect on my waistline(as in it will shrink).

it’s a long walk to class and back and its a high hike up to the apartment.

dunno what taiping will hold for us.hehe.
